Senior Accountant
Description
Position Summary:
Experienced accountant must be detail oriented and proficient, with an analytical mindset,
and able to produce accurate work product in a timely manner. The accountant must have a
minimum of three years of experience in an accounting position. The education requirements
include a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (CPA certification is not required). The
accountant must also be a quick learner, team player, have good communication skills, and
employ professional discretion in handling confidential information. The position will
involve several different responsibilities, but the main responsibility will be to assist the
Controller in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements and related
journal entries, reconciliations, and audit workpapers. This position will offer challenges and
learning experiences in a fast paced work environment.
Essential Job Functions:
Accounting & Reporting
-Prepare and record standard monthly journal entries for several Company entities
-Prepare and record cash receipts based on detailed information of deposits made
-Assist in the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements and
reconciliations
-Analyze, track, and record monthly employee travel and expense reimbursements and
American Express employee and corporate accounts ensuring compliance with the
Company’s travel policy
-Accounts receivable invoicing for (i) income property reimbursements (ii) interest
income for commercial loans, and (iii) quarterly dues for owners’ associations, etc.
-Assist in preparation of annual CAM reconciliations for income properties
-Prepare and maintain budget to actual reporting for various income properties and
owners’ associations with monthly reporting to project manager
-Prepare and maintain budget to actual reporting for various construction projects with
weekly reporting to project manager
-Participates in special projects and assignments as requested.
SEC Reporting, Quarterly Review / Annual Audit, Tax Compliance.
Participate in compiling the information needed to draft the Annual Report on Form
10-K and the Quarterly Reports on Form 10-Q
Participate in drafting components of the Annual Form 10-K and Quarterly Reports
on Form 10-Q
Assist in the preparation and organization of the quarterly and annual audit requests
from the external auditors, including the out-sourced SOX compliance internal audit
function
Prepare monthly sales tax returns
Prepare annual tangible property tax returns
Ensure adherence to internal control policies and procedures

Education
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required
3-5 years of accounting/financial reporting experience required
Fundamental accounting knowledge (journal entries, expensing or capitalization
concepts, accrual basis accounting) required
Experience with real estate and construction activities a plus
Skills
Competencies:
High degree of integrity and strong work ethic
Possess broad knowledge of GAAP
Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial statements and related information
Must be detail oriented and able to deliver accurate work within established deadlines
Advanced level Excel skills required
